Meridian 2025 New Chequing Account Offer - Terms and Conditions

THE OFFER 

The Meridian Credit Union Limited (“Meridian”) New Chequing Account Offer is available to all prospective Members who do not have a Meridian Membership share (“New Members”) and sign up for a $1 Membership share, which is fulfilled at the time of account opening (the "Share"). A $300 cash bonus (“Cash Bonus”) can be earned by each New Member who opens a new Meridian chequing account and meets the eligibility criteria outlined below (the “Offer”). Additionally, the chequing account’s monthly package fee will be waived for the first 12 months. The Offer is available from March 3, 2025, until June 30, 2025 (the “Offer Period”). The following terms and conditions apply to the Offer.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF THE OFFER

The following criteria must be satisfied by the New Member to qualify for the Offer.

New Member

New Members must meet all the following criteria:

1. Reside in Ontario, Canada.
2. Be 18 years of age, or older, at the time of participation.
3. Have not held a Meridian share as of March 1, 2025.
4. Purchase a Share and open an eligible chequing account (explained below) during the Offer Period.
5. Open an eligible chequing account which includes any of the following packages: Senior Everyday Chequing Package, Senior Unlimited Chequing Package, Essential Chequing Package, Everyday Chequing Package, Digital Chequing Package, Unlimited Chequing Package, and Student Chequing Package (the “Account”). 
6. Fund the Account with a minimum of $40 (forty dollars CAD) within 30 days of Account opening (the “Deposit”).
7. Within the first 30 days of Account opening, complete at least one (1) of the following:

1. Set up a recurring monthly direct deposit of at least $100 per deposit, each month, from an employer, the government, or your pension, and maintain this for a minimum of three (3) consecutive months. Qualifying direct deposits includes the following: payroll; pension direct deposits; Canada pension plan; old age security; disability payments, and governmental deposits such as employment insurance; Canada child benefit, Ontario trillium benefit; and veteran disability pension;
2. Or in the case of people who do not receive direct deposits, set up two (2) recurring monthly pre-authorized debit bill payments of at least $100 per payment, each month (“Qualifying Bill Payments”) and maintain both Qualifying Bill Payments for a minimum of three (3) consecutive months. Qualifying Bill Payments is restricted to the following: car payments, mortgage payments, phone bill payments, utility bill payments and insurance payments.
   
   

   (collectively, hereinafter referred to as the “Qualifying Transaction”). Meridian reserves the right to determine what is considered a Qualifying Transaction. See payout schedule for qualifying deposit details and payments dates of the Cash Bonus.

General Terms

1. The Account’s monthly package fee will be waived for the first twelve (12) months from the date of the Account opening, provided the New Member meets the Offer Eligibility Criteria. All other applicable services charges on the Account will continue to apply. After twelve (12) months, the standard monthly package fee for the Account will apply, at the price of the package in twelve (12) months.
2. To apply for the Offer and receive the Cash Bonus, New Members must complete the following when opening their Account:

1. Identify in branch that they are opening an Account as part of the Offer; or open an Account through the Offer page on Meridian’s website; and
2. Qualify for an Account through Meridian’s standard process which includes a qualification process that requires a credit check. Consent is obtained during Meridian’s account opening process through the Offer page, and/or in person in a branch.

3. Except as may be set out in the Terms and Conditions of this Offer, all terms and conditions applicable to products and services held by you with Meridian are not amended by the Terms and Conditions of this Offer and continue to apply during and after this Offer.
4. This is a limited time Offer. The Terms and Conditions of this Offer, including the overall availability of the Offer, are subject to the absolute discretion of Meridian and may be changed at any time by Meridian without advance notice. Meridian reserves the right to amend, withdraw or terminate the Offer at any time, without further notice. If Meridian amends the Terms and Conditions of this Offer, Meridian will make available the updated Terms and Conditions in branch or on the Meridian website.
5. Redemption of the Cash Bonus by a New Member who is eligible for the Offer is limited to one (1) per person and may not be combined with any other cash incentive offer.
6. By participating in this Offer, all participants agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations and these Terms and Conditions. Any attempt to manipulate or exploit the Offer will result in disqualification.
7. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to this Promotion, including any question regarding its existence, interpretation, validity, breach, or termination, shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Toronto, Ontario. By participating in this Promotion, the member irrevocably submits to the jurisdiction of such courts and waives any objection to the venue or jurisdiction of such courts.
8. Meridian is not liable for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with this Offer, including but not limited to direct, indirect, or consequential losses.
9. This Offer is intended for promotional purposes only and do not constitute financial or legal advice or an opinion related to the acquisition, suitability or use of any of the Accounts.

CASH BONUS PAYOUT

1. After the New Member meets all the Offer Eligibility Criteria and complies with the Offer Terms and Conditions, Meridian will deposit the Cash Bonus as per the payout schedule outlined below, into the New Member’s Account. If the Account is not in good standing, the Cash Bonus will not be paid out. Determination of fulfillment of the Offer Eligibility Criteria and compliance with the Offer Terms and Conditions is at Meridian’s sole discretion.
2. The New Member must accept the Cash Bonus in the form that it is awarded and must be a Member of Meridian with an Account at the time the Cash Bonus is paid; no substitutes or exceptions are permitted.

PAYOUT SCHEDULE

Cash Bonuses will be paid by Meridian on the last day of the month or the following business day if the last day of the month falls on a weekend.

CONSENT

By participating in this Offer, you expressly agree and consent that Meridian can use the information provided by you to contact you. This means you also consent to receive electronic communications from Meridian and you agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications that are provided to you electronically satisfy any legal requirements that such communications be in writing.
