How to find your branch transit, institution, and account number

What are your branch transit, institution, and account numbers?

These three numbers are part of your account information – they help financial institutions keep track of your transactions.

Branch transit number: A 5-digit number that identifies your home branch (the Meridian branch where you opened up your account, for example).

Institution number: A 3-digit number identifying your financial institution. Meridian’s is 837.

Account number: A 12-digit number identifying your deposit or personal line of credit account.

How can you find your branch transit, institution, and account numbers?

There are two ways to find your branch transit, institution, and account numbers: on a cheque or through online banking or our mobile app.

Locate your branch transit, institution, and account numbers on a cheque

Look at the numbers on the bottom of your cheque – they are separated into four sets of numbers. The first set is the cheque number, the second set is your branch transit number, the third set is your institution number, and the fourth set is your account number.

Find your branch transit, institution, and account numbers through online banking

To find your branch and transit information through online banking simply log in, choose your account, and go to the ‘Select an Action’ menu. Choose ‘Direct Deposit Form’ and go to the ‘Deposit Form’ tab. From here, you can create a PDF Direct Deposit form that will display your branch transit, institution, and account numbers.

Find your branch transit, institution, and account numbers on our mobile app

To find your branch and transit information through our mobile banking app simply log in, choose your account, and go to the ‘Summary’ tab. Under ‘Direct deposit info’ you’ll find your branch transit, institution, and account numbers.
