Meridian’s new concept branch in Brampton strikes a balance between high touch and high tech - October 24, 2019

Shoppers, Members and community invited to visit Meridian’s new Experience Centre
 
TORONTO, ON (October 24, 2019) – Meridian, Ontario’s largest credit union and third largest in Canada, has opened its newest − and first − concept branch in Brampton today in Bramalea City Centre.  

The open concept space welcomes mall shoppers, community residents, Meridian Members and guests into a warm inviting environment with a blend of highly personalized face-to-face time with people and sophisticated user-friendly technology.  Cashless, paperless and without tellers, it is staffed by Financial Wellness Coaches.

“Meridian values the quality of our Members’ experience as an essential ingredient of the strong relationships we have,” said Wanita Fonseka, Vice President, Retail Member Experience at Meridian. “Our new Bramalea City Centre location is an organic, modern evolution of how we engage with our Members and guests in our physical locations today – and in the future. All visitors can truly enjoy the Meridian experience in a relaxed, no-pressure environment where people can take a break from shopping, learn, engage with their community and maybe even grab a cup of coffee.”

At their leisure, guests can experience four zones, including:

  • a welcome area with a concierge to greet visitors and serve as a guide;

  • a hospitality lounge area with comfortable casual seating, interactive digital displays, tablets, videos and applications, and mobile phone chargers where guests can engage, relax and perhaps view local broadcasts of events at their leisure;

  • a flexible and educational zone for pre-scheduled sessions, workshops and seminars, also available for use by community groups and not-for-profit groups;

  • private office areas where Members or potential new Members can meet in-person with a Financial Wellness Coach, Wealth Management or Business Banking Advisor with the option to have virtual private conferencing sessions with appropriate financial experts across Meridian’s network, as needed.

Visitors will have access to an ABM connected to THE EXCHANGE® Network for regular bank transactions. Combined, the complement of 10 full and part-time staff including four Wellness Financial Coaches, speak English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Arabic.  

Meridian’s new concept branch will be the fourth location opened in Brampton since 2017. It is located in one of Canada’s largest shopping malls, a designated tourist area.

The branch, located at 25 Peel Centre Drive, in the Bramalea City Centre Shopping Mall will be open 362 days of the year Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., Saturdays 9:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Sundays 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The opening will feature an action packed calendar of activities including:

  • Tours for media and visitors - October 24 – 27 during mall and branch hours;

  • Ribbon Cutting Ceremony officiated by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, Wade Stayzer, SVP and Chief Member Experience, Meridian and Wanita Fonseka, VP, Member Experience, Retail, Meridian – Saturday, October 26 at 11:30 a.m.;

  • Diwali Celebration Station located in the mall for participants to capture their Diwali Meridian Moment on video with an opportunity to win $1000 when they visit the new branch to open Meridian’s digital vault.
