The HST is now here

Starting on July 1st, 2010, the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) was launched in Ontario. HST is one tax of 13% that combines the 5% Goods and Services Tax (GST) with the 8% Provincial Sales Tax (PST).

Bank service charges are NOT subject to HST.

Here are some Meridian products and services that are affected by this change. They are:

• Cheque orders and supplies
• Safety Deposit Boxes
• Night Deposit Bags, and
• Administrative services such as:
  • Audit/Bank Confirmations
  • Interest or Balance Letters
  • Credit Ratings

Only those products and services that are purchased after July 1, 2010 are affected by the new tax.
